Marabou

The marabou feather

Marabou is a great versatile product. There are many flies that can be tied with marabou, but one of the most popular is the wooly bugger. One of marabou's best features is the action it has in the water. Marabou conforms to the swaying action of the water, and mimics the movement of a small fish. they cling together when pulled through the water, and fluff out when stopped. This makes marabou ideal for use in streamer flies. Marabou comes in tons of colors, and has many applications from tails on bugger flies to bodies on Flesh flies. Marabou that is commercially available is produced from chicken and turkey feathers.
